Lovely Place in the Middle of Nowhereworld
Peter_Ferraoon 27/08/2017 21:00Dapoli was a last minute decision in the middle of a long weekend. I was looking for a one day option a the place had to be not very not far from Mumbai but yet distant enough to feel like a holiday.
Tripadvisor found me The Fern at Dapoli and it was the rainiest drive that I have ever been on. I also (foolishly and happily) ignored directions and road advice provided by the Fern staff and chose to trust Google Maps. This meant that I drove through some absolutely amazingly virgin landscape that had 'not very good roads'
Dapoli and the Fern are worth it during the rains. Lovely room (Tulip 11), Good, friendly service, decent (not outstanding) food and awesome kidtertainment (for a 3 year old) in the form of a magic show.
The property is nice. Did not really enjoy it or explore it to the fullest as I was there for less than 24 hours, but whatever I saw was well maintained in a way that still kept the natural feel of the landscape alive and real. The place is a botanists daydream. The rooms are Clean. The staff is professional.
If someone had to put a gun to my head to point out an area of improvement, I would recommend better lighting on the pathways. It's aesthetically all right (illuminating the plants and the trees) but a (potentially very dangerous) nightmare for senior citizens and children. My mother, for example, missed her footing twice and couldn't see some steps leading to the pathway from the building. Wouldnt reccomend the place for senior citizens.
But the rest of us will love it. Kudos to the staff.

Excellent service and Close to Nature

We had selected Aster room which is quite big in size.
You get entire view of the valley spreading across miles and miles right from your room.
Monsoon season really brings out the beauty in nature.
If you have to describe the resort in 2 sentences then it is
1. Excellent Service
2. Closeness to Nature
If you want to be away from hustle bustle of the city life and
spend time with complete peace of mind then this is the place for you.
Only sounds you will hear will be that of birds chirping or that of TV,
if you decide to turn it on!!
Their staff is well behaved and offers quality and timely service.
In fact the general manager of the resort Mr. Sumit goes extra mile
into seeing that the guests don't face any problem during their stay.
Closest beach is Ladghar beach which is 6 KM away. Ocean is visible from the resort.
If you are traveling from Mumbai / Thane and using Google Maps
to get directions to Dapoli then don't take the route suggested by Google Maps!!
It shows you fastest route as Mumbai-Kolad-Lonere-Mandangad-Dapoli.
But this route is not safe at all. Roads are bad.
If your vehicle gets stuck then you won't find even single person for many many kilometers.
Instead take the Mumbai-Goa highway route till Khed and then turn for Dapoli.
This Mumbai-Kolad-Poladpur-Khed-Dapoli route is approx. 25 KM longer but much safer and faster.
If I return to Dapoli again then I will definitely stay at Fern Samali only.
