Reservation mishap

Initially I had reservations at Hawthorn Suites in Aransas Pass. Arrived to a closed Hotel. After calling Wyndham rewards customer care I was rerouted to Alice, 68 miles back in the direction I just came. So I wasn't pleased. Not Days Inn fault. The room was acceptable. Staff was helpful. Breakfast was good. If this is your destination or your passing through, I recommend.
Emergency stay only

It was dry and had a bed.
Insects, no shampoo or soap. Rust, mold and mildew, enamel paint peeling, poor repair job on what appeared to be a leak in the ceiling.
This was a family emergency otherwise it would have been an immediate departure

During my stay, check in was alright, desk staff wasn't friendly but wasn't rude. First few hours I was in the room, I went to take a shower and the first towel I grabbed was ripped and hanging on by a thread or two. I dropped something next to the ac, went to pick it up and found a used wash cloth that had been there for who knows how long. Then, I found German roaches in my room.. didn't ask to move rooms as it is south Texas, bugs are going to make their way in. I did let 3-11 worker know and asked to have pest control come into my room the next day,she apologized and assured me management would be notified and the problem would be taken care of.She was friendly and polite. The next day, I had my do not disturb sign on until 10:30am when I left the room for the day, I returned back to my room at 11:30pm, my room hadn't been cleaned. The wash cloth next to the ac wasn't removed. I gathered my towels and went to the front desk to get a new set, the door was locked, the night auditor had her headphones in and she was watching tv or talking on the phone. When I asked for a new set of towels she looked confused as to why I wanted new towels. I also complained to her and told her my room had not been cleaned and that I removed my do not disturb sign at 1030am. She said "I don't know why it wasn't cleaned, I wasn't the one to clean it." But said she would leave a note and apologized for the inconvenience. The next day the room was finally cleaned. Ac was pretty loud, but I know that is something desk staff can't control. The room needed a lot of repairs. There was cracks and holes in multiple parts of the room. The room looked clean but didn't feel clean. Pest control did come in as per my request. Or at least that is what the note said that was left on my dresser. I moved the other night stand to look for a plug and found a chip behind it that you could tell was old and stale. Upon check out I did not get asked how my stay was, otherwise I would have address every issue at that time. I'm in the hotel business. I run two of them and I know this is entirely unacceptable. I come to Alice/SD because I am a firefighter and we have many events throughout the year where I stay a week at a time. I will be staying at another hotel instead of this one.
