Indian Vacation

My husband and I spent a week at the Radisson Blu in Goa prior to attending a wedding in Ahmedabad. Upon arrival the open lobby looked beautiful and inviting. However, as our week continued and we settled into the resort, we noticed areas that required some TLC. The adjacent Greek restaurant next to the pool was being renovated and loud with workers. Not very relaxing! The lounge chair cushions at the pool were thin and uncomfortable. Tables and chairs would be more accommodating especially for older guests.
Our “unit” semi attached room was sufficient regarding space but the bathroom shower required a more detailed cleaning. Mold along the bottom edge of the shower as well as on the vinyl shade was unwelcoming. Staff did a good job to tidy the room daily and provided much needed bottled water.
All of our meals were eaten at the Upper Deck except for one at Sagres which was subpar. At the Upper Deck you had the option to eat off the buffet, order from the menu or order food from the chef. Overall the quality was good. One morning Chef Veronus stopped by our table to say hello and inquired if we needed or wanted anything. Not being familiar with Indian cuisine he took the time to explain what was on the buffet. He also offered to cook us breakfast if we preferred that, and several mornings he cooked for us. He was outstanding! Always happy to greet us with a smile, a good morning and an offer to provide us with a meal. By the time we left we felt like we had made a friend. Three other staff members who require a shout out from the Upper Deck are Steven, Gaurav and Mercado (not sure if the spelling is correct but saw him in the morning). All of these individuals treated us super and enhanced our dining experience at the Radisson.
One additional person I would like to mention is Stella from the spa. I have travelled to many areas of the world and often treat myself to a massage and this trip was no different. I scheduled myself for a 90 minute massage which was the best experience I have ever had. I told Stella that if she moved to NY I would visit her monthly. Unfortunately for me I don’t think this will happen. The only downside was the flooding shower in the spa’s female bathroom due to poor drainage.
The walk to the beach took 5-10 minutes through another hotel which was fine. Be prepared to be bombarded by women and men selling their “wares”. These individuals are relentless and can deter you from enjoying the beach.
Overall we had a wonderful time in Goa and would recommend this part of India for a vacation.

Wedding at Radisson

We had our wedding at Radisson and I must say all in all I am very happy with the service, but I cannot give 5 as I still have some things that are just not okay.
First one good thing, their cleaning staff of the room are very sweet, we where staying there to plan the weeding in juli and I was sick and sweating so much that my madres was soaked, they changed the whole madres and we did not even have to ask. Very good service.
At the weeding however I have some complaints, first they rejected some of my guests access to get in to the hotel, as we had a little get together the day before. This was however solved after I had a talk with them. Second they invited us for complementary food, very nice thing. Thow we found out after we had to pay for the few drinks we got that should have been clearly informed as it gave a bad exsperience instead of a good one.
Business type hotel trying to be holiday resort!

We stayed here for several nights - in one of the superior rooms. These were in houses spread around the hotel grounds. The room was a bit dark but was fine. The servicing of the rooms was haphazard with excellent cleaning some days and poor the next. Breakfast was also mixed - its in a cafeteria environment. I asked for an omelette each morning and a different one appeared each morning. The pool was being worked on with new steps being created - I found it unattractive and din't use it.
I've stayed at Radisson Blu hotels around the World and this one is one of the most expensive in the area and isn't up to Radisson standards.
if I return on a vacation - I'll stay at the next door Donna Sylvia
