Long time customer - will not be returning

Stayed there this passed weekend, Nov 10 and 11th.
Check in took over 20 min. Booked 2 poolside rooms 1.5 months in advance. They gave away our rooms and relocated us on the balcony. (this is the second time this has happened) I told them that my Mom could not get up the stairs and that we needed a ground level room and this is why we book so far in advance to ensure that we can get the room we need. She said they didn't have anything left for poolside. I said she would have to bump somebody because they gave our rooms away. She said all people in poolside rooms have already booked in and she can't. She then looked for a while on her computer and said she all of a sudden now had one poolside. I put my parents in that room and took a balcony room on the second level. We gave her our CAA card for the discount on the room rate to apply for both rooms.
Upon check out day (Sunday) under my door there was the invoice. They had billed us for both rooms as poolside and didn't apply the CAA discount even though we had taken an extra 10 min upon check in to ensure that the card was applied towards the room rates. So we were charged for rooms that we originally booked, but didn't get and they didn't apply the discount. I was clearly upset as they have completely mis-charged us for, didn't apply the discount and gave away our rooms. I have every right to be upset and the front reception person began getting upset with me for being annoyed????She said it was not her personally, so I didn't have a right to complain. At the end, she fixed the bills and applied a $20.00 discount to the balcony room and in her own words she stated (even though I don't agree with your behaviour, I gave you the discount of $20.00) Really??? WOW!
So, needless to say, we won't be back here again. We usually stay there several times a year and always book 2 poolside rooms. Extremely disappointed in the Service this time. Also, to top that off, I told them that all the hot tubs in the hotel had green water in them. She said they have a new maintenance guy and he didn't really know how the chemicals worked. So instead of closing the hot tubs for the safety of the patrons, you allow people in them to possible get sick?! Unreal! There were several people/children in these hot tubs and I hope that they don't end up getting ill.
We left the hotel on Sunday and popped into the C'mon Inn to look around and their facility is much nicer and well maintained. And the hot tub water wasn't green! We will definitely will be switching hotels for our next visit.
Glad you business is doing so good that you can afford to lose long time frequent visitors.
Sincerely,
Disappointed guest

Stayed at the Rodeway inn in grand forks this past weekend with my family. We usually stay at the C'mon Inn but they were all booked.
The Rodeway is conveniently located close to the mall and is central to all the shopping. They have lots of parking. Checkin was fast and easy. Front desk people friendly.
Got to our room and it had a strange smell. Not musky but just off. I always travel with some febreeze, so that seemed to fix it.
People have complained about the hard beds before and yes they are hard but I actually prefer that over a super soft one. Lots of nice pillows though. 😊
The room has seen better days. My daughter sat on her bed and the headboard came right off the wall. We called a maintenance guy and he came right away and reattached it. But throughout the weekend it kept happening so we just left it.
The dresser and desk are very worn. Carpet fraying and wallpaper pealing. The bathroom was clean but seemed to have a strange smell as well.
Plenty of towels and lots of hot water.
Lucky we are a shorter family as the shower tap is quite low. Anyone 6 feet or more would have an issue.
The pool area was alright. One main pool with a small kiddie pool and hot tub and then 3 hot tubs outside the pool area. One of which was out of order and one which didn't have enough water in it. And one which was warm but not nearly hot enough. There was a clump of hair beside one of the hot tubs and it stayed there all weekend. So kinda gross.
Also we had to go ask for towels on more than one occasion as there weren't any by the pool area and the hotel wasn't nearly full.
We also had to get our room keys redone more than once as they weren't working.
The breakfast was good enough for us.
They had lots of choices. Toast, muffins, danishes, cereal, pancakes, waffles, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, fruit and then juice, milk, several teas and coffees.
The coffee, and teas were available anytime which was nice.
So all in all, not terrible but not my favourite either. It needs some tlc. The staff all seems nice though. Would go back if some renos were done.
This hotel is run down and smells

We stayed as a family and rented 2 rooms
First of all none of the hot tubs worked and the pool was dirty. Then the 1st room they gave us the bed sheets were dirty with very bad stains on it even the front desk clerk seen how bad it was and they wanted to move us all the way down the hall when we said NO week booked and paid for 2 rooms to be together so we want on close to each other. Then the rooms only have 1 plug each also the breakfast was old bread no fruit they hand no waffles it was over all the worst hotel I've stayed in I've called to speak to the manager as I requested my money back and nothing to this point I should have learned as I rented the same hotel in Miami and it was the same kind of thing nothing good to say about the roadway inn. I will not book again in any city the roadway inn. My advice to everyone stay away. If I could give it a 0 I would.
Also Chris the so call manager was rude and lied said he mail me a hotel card with free night never got it and then he was calling me a lier after the 3 attempt to get my card back he said he would register mail it 2 weeks later nothing called again and asked to speak to the higher up manager and was told that’s not possible.
AVOID AT ALL COST EVEN IF ITS FREE
DIRTY RUN DOWN NOTHING WORKING HIT TUBS SWIMMING POOL DIRTY
STAY FAR AWAY!!!!

First time there and was very pleased. Staff friendly, check in & out efficient & quick.
Room with balcony clean, and nice to overlook common area & enjoy a refreshment.
Quiet for sleep with good beds & pillows. Breakfast good with a few different items than some other hotels, but close to the same. 24 hour coffee area. Our definite staying hotel on next trips.
Lovely.

Very nice hotel. Staff are always friendly. My husband and I prefer the rodeway inn over any other hotel. We even searched for it in different states (although it's dif under other management). We plan on sticking with the hotel whenever we come to the states. Thank you
