What People are saying

Excellent Colonial Style Hotel with Wonderful Staff

rajeev1981 on 21/11/2017 06:41

Nice spacious room reflect the richness of colonial architecture. The service is very good. The hotel was built 150 years ago (the then school built by British). The hotel is well maintained with a large and beautiful garden area. Almost all the rooms have garden and fire place inside. The rooms and washrooms are large and neat. At night we could have campfire and do lots of gaming/ dancing activities.

We stayed two nights in this hotel. It is set in very pretty English gardens but the rooms are very disappointing. We were booked into a Superior room and believe me there were nothing superior about this room at all! It smelt terribly and was grubby. When we complained we were ungraded to another room which was equally unattractive - dirty, dark and there were stained sheets on the bed plus hairs on the pillow. Once again we complained and very quickly we were shown to an Executive room. These room were built in 1927 and I assure you that little had been changed since that date. The room was marginally better than the previous two but offered very little comfort and the furniture had certainly seen better days. It and a tiny bathroom that only accommodated one person at a time. It also had a small dressing room and a type of sun room at the front but this was so cold and damp that you couldn't possibly use it.
There is one restaurant and I have to say that the food was lovely but be aware that there is a 58% tax onimported spirits and wine not that they had any! We ordered a bottle of wine from the menu which was out of stock as was another we selected so in the end we just drank water. The waiter did produce a bottle of red wine that would retail in the U.K. for no more than seven or eight pounds and we worked out that it would have cost us in this hotel around £80!!!
Suffice to say that we did not enjoy our time here and couldn't wait to leave!

A hotel in scenic beauty

The service experienced is what one would expect in a well run 5 star hotel with the added advantage of very competitive pricing. Rooms are very spacious, cottage format, large bath room and a fair size bedroom and a sitting room and a small front garden. Row of cottages with their distinctive names and dates on which they were built, all pre-dating the end of colonial era. A very well maintained landscaped garden which used to be an attraction in its own right.
