What People are saying

Disappointed

Whitney C on 20/11/2017 02:51

I should start this review by saying that we stayed here two years ago and the hotel was very clean and was such a great place to stay. However we just stayed there again this past weekend and had a completely different experience

First of all, the front desk staffwas very rude.

I left my belongings out with a bunch of baby stuff. They came into the room to do major maintenance without informing us that they'd be in our room. When I check into a room I only expect there to be cleaning services and light maintenance, if needed. They replaced an air conditioner unit. If I had known, I would have put my baby's belongings away to keep them from having the dirt from the old air conditioning unit blow all of them.

Also I asked for a clean comforter since we are traveling with a baby (so I'd have a clean place to change him) but they refused and said all of their comforters are clean.

The linens were filthy. The sheets had black ink on them, the pillow cases had makeup (fresh face foundation) all over them, and there were cigarette burns in the sheets and comforter. I noticed this dirt on our second night so I indicated to the cleaning staff that we wanted clean sheets however on the third night we STILL had the same filthy sheets.

Lastly, The parking lot gets really full by 7:30 and if you sit get a spot in front of the hotel, you need to go park down the street.

Worked for what we needed

I booked this hotel through a website that doesn't let you see the hotel until after booked. The room was nice but it smelled like smoke because it was a smoking room. I didn't even know hotels allowed that any more. There was a hot breakfast available every morning.

Family time in the 'boro

I spent the weekend in my hometown to attend the funeral of my niece. It was a sad occasion; however, I had a chance to celebrate her life and reconnect with family and friends. Normally, I would stay with family but my mom had quite a few guests. The hotel is convenient to the airport (about 10 miles), even more so to nearby High Point. Despite its location just off the highway, it's nestled by trees that shield any noise. The parking lot gets full rather quickly but there is an overflow lot upon entering the property. I was pleased with the complimentary breakfast and WiFi. The person who set up the breakfast was gracious and helpful. I didn't get her name but wanted to acknowledge her service. I think I found a new home...well, second to my mom's.

Nope. Nope. Nope. Not ever again.

The property seemed fairly decent. Looks like a fairly recent attempt at rehab/remodel. I am not sure. I literally spent less than an hour here and will NEVER return. The customer service from night shift and general management is terrible.

It's sort of difficult to get to -- you see a giant billboard from one highway -- but the hotel is actually on another road entirely and you have to circle thru this industrial area to get to the actual property. Slightly confusing at 3am but Siri was on her game and took us right there without issue.

The issues started with "Brandon" our supposed front desk clerk. Not sure if he was a real employee or not as a. He was no where to be found when I walked in and b. He was in a Budweiser t-shirt and pants.

So, anyway, back to the story - I walk in at 3am after a long, arduous drive from Nashville. As a travel nurse, I have learned to always call and verify my reservations a couple of days in advance and DEFINITELY on travel day especially if I will be a late arrival. ( I have worked as a hotel night auditor in a prior life and I know things get cancelled and purged at midnight. ). I also know that people are human and forget to relay simple information from one shift to the next , so if ever I am arriving near or after midnight, I ALWAYS call the property at least twice -- once on day/evening. Once on night shift just before midnight just to verify and confirm my arrival and to address any problems before all the people in my travel department leave for the evening. Exact same protocol for this adventure. Each time I called Sleep Inn Greensboro, I was assured everything was in place and no problems.

Until I arrived. At 3am. (Bear in mind, I am a travel nurse and I have to be at my next assignment at 4am. All I want to do is drop my gear, shower, and head to work.). No. Nope. The guy in the beer shirt -- which I can only pray is an employee-- demands that my room fee has not been paid and I must pay. No, wait Here is my confirmation. No, if you want a room you must pay for a room right now. So, I have been on the road 8 hours -- have to be at work in 45mins -- so I don't argue and produce a credit card. (Thank God for those, right ???)

So, instead of getting to go upstairs and take a luxurious 20minute nap as I had sooooooooo been looking forward to and a nice hot shower before heading back out into the cold cruel world -- I get to spend my time calling everyone in my travel department IN MICHIGAN hoping that I can get someone on the phone at 4am EST to help correct this fiasco.

So, I find the confirmation number, call the front desk and ask "Brandon" to search for it in his system. He becomes absolutely enraged and throws the phone down and begins cursing like a maniac. Now, bear in mind, my husband is with me and I have this call on speaker phone. After his f-bomb hissy fit and several minutes of silence, we ascertain that Budweiser boy is thru with us. So, I call hotel brand 1-800 number.

Well, I'll be danged.

Low and behold, there is my reservation right there in the system. Complete with the SAME confirmation number I have tried to get "Brandon" to search for AND the reservation has been paid in full by the travel department corporate card.

What do you know ?? WHAT DO YOU KNOW ?

Well, Choice Hotels puts me on hold and attempts to call 'Brandon'. Several minutes pass and the customer service lady is very apologetic. She states she has refunded my personal credit card and she not sure of what happened but there is a note in the system that 'Brandon' is in EXTREME need of retraining as is relates to Choice Hotels and customer service.

I thank her profusely as I explain that I have called EVERYONE at my corporate office and left curt and or stern voicemails with all of them over this unfortunate situation. Now, I will have to call back and apologize to all since it was NEVER their fault.

Then I ask, if it were safe for me to leave the hotel. Since, a. I am still not sure the guy in the beer shirt is even and employee. And b. Whoever is down at that desk has severe anger issues. She assures me that I will be safe and that' Brandon' will not address me.

Well, I am an old middle aged lady. Definitely over my fighting weight and clearly past my prime. So, my sweet husband graciously walks me safely downstairs and out to my car so I can go to work.

We had requested a late check out so I could catch a short nap before heading home to Memphis. The day clerk the previous day had graciously offered a 2pm check out. Extremely generous on her behalf. That morning when I returned to the hotel, I called my husband and told him to just check out and be ready to get on the road. There was no way I was staying there. I felt extremely uncomfortable and not particularly safe. So he did.

After breakfast, I decided to call and speak to a manager. I definitely wanted my concerns noted and I needed to verify my safety of my credit card and identity. (We have been victims of credit card fraud in the past ). The manager, Justin, is in EXTREME need of retraining as it relates to Choice Hotels customer service, as well.

He was rude and slightly condescending. Not once was he apologetic. He told me that he would have to get 'Brandon's' version of the events, watch the video surveillance cameras (?????) and wait for corporate to place a customer service "ticket" in the system before he could address my concerns. He was completely non-plussed with anything I had to say. He treated me as if my concerns were not valid.

Hey, 'Justin'. Don't bother. Eat a big ol' root and know that I will never darken your doorstep again. It's been almost two weeks. Your lack of response is ALL the response I need.

This was a terrible experience. I have definitely made my concerns known to my corporate travel team. They will certainly think twice before considering the Choice brand for our staffing needs. I know, on a personal level, that I will also.

Comfy, clean, easy access

85% customer satisfaction rating from us on this one.

We have never stayed at a Sleep Inn, and I would not normally chose one right next to the airport, but we were surprisingly
happy with the place.

Location - easy to get to from the highway and airport area. Only 10 minute drive into the heart of town. We stayed here to attend an event at the coliseum. No problems getting there quickly. Noise from overhead planes could not be heard in our room.

Comfort - mattress is comfy - not too hard or soft. Good selection of pillows. Linens obviously aren't Egyptian cotton, but good enough for one night.

Staff was friendly and efficient. There is a continental breakfast offered - typical muffins, bagels, cereal, etc...

Value - don't know what normal rates run, but was able to get a deal through Hotwire for king sized bed with fridge and microwave for $86. It would have been cheaper had I let them chose my bed size, but we wanted the larger bed.
