A greasy dive burger joint, but has been here for years. Strictly a counter set up, no frills, no ambience. Good burgers and better than a White Castle. Will take you back to your childhood.

Being down the street from me, the smells eminating from me occasionally draw me in. The burgers are cheap, and in the past, were very good. I stopped in recently after work to order a couple of burgers and fries to go. The order came to $5.15, so I gave the cashier $11.00. She fumbled around trying to make change, and got hostile when I told her she owed me a five-dollar bill and change. Finally, she through my money back at me, and told me I was "trying to confuse her." She told her co-worker to handle the transaction and broke down in tears, telling me I was trying to make her feel stupid. I've always liked this place for what it is, something like out of an Edward Hopper painting, but this last experience convinced me that I will just stop at the bar across the street the next time I'm tempted by a quick burger.

The only real slider place still left in Dearborn, Carter's does a pretty good job of firing up the classic slider. I, of course, prefer mine with cheese and the mandatory onions. Try a milkshake too. Very tasty. I have had their breakfast several times and it is a good meal at a good price. Carter's may not be for everyone, but I tend to like the old school slider places.

I try and avoid the chains so stopped by at Carter's this evening to grab something to eat. You have to eat at the counter which is great as you can watch the burgers being flipped and talk with the customers. I had five hamburgers and a milkshake for just over $10 and thought I was going to burst. This is a real gem and I would come back again as you cannot beat a real experience and friendly staff.

Everyone goes there for the burgers, which are very good, but I love the sandwiches. You should try them, they really are pretty good.
