I have been over here on 5 or 6 times and I've seen how the services dropped over the months. The last visit was in May n rooms odour was filled with phenoil and the taps were leaking (anyways as always) and the color of the floor said cleaning is needed. Common areas had the smell of liquor & food. The staff will not help you get something even if you are ready to pay. But as said below I've never waited to get a room. It would still be ok if you don't want to spend more & if you are visiting temple nearby. Still you get better stay competitivly priced within 5 or 6 km. And you could be cursing yourself when you are a vegetarian and staying there as you cannot find a decent veg restaurant in about a km or 2 and especially when you are looking for a breakfast.
Unsafe, lost luggage..

After my previous stay at the hotel, I had vowed never to return. But misfortune caught up with me, in the form of my travel agent, who blocked the hotel for my stay and made a token payment. I arrived at the hotel at 9am and after the customary 2hour wait in the lobby for "room cleaning", I was finally lead to the room. At the first glance, I felt nothing had changed. Even the drinking glass seemed to have a stench of alcohol left by the previous tenants of the room. Since my purpose for visit was for a visa interview at the consulate, I left immediately leaving behind my mobile phone (since it is not allowed inside the consulate). To my shock, I returned to find that my phone (which I had hidden under the pillow, knowing the hotel's reputation) had disappeard. I appealed to the hotel staff, who pinned the blame on me for leaving valuables in the room and claimed they provide no guarantee for safety of such items. While I threatened to post a complaint, I was warned by the staff that me being leaving behind a mobile in the room while venturing out is suspicious and as a non-tamil speaker, I would eventually get in trouble. I left the hotel in the night after hours of debate with the staff who by then had ignored me completely
