We went to Munnar in Dec.2011. It was a nice experience. We stayed for 2nights/3days. Overall a nice place to stay in budget range. Rooms were clean well maintained, although not much spacious. Location is a plus point. Recommended for a budget stay..

First i like to inform that Munnar Mansion is closed. There was no mail or call from ClearTrip or from Hotel that it is closed. When we called the no. provided on our Voucher, some fellow answered that it is closed. After which we had called to clearTrip regarding this, They said our booking is confirmed but have no Idea about munnar mansion been closed. The other Hotel ' Hotel Albarad' where our booking were shifted had called to one of us informing about our booking and asking our status. So luckily we got rooms. Luckily because if he hadn't called us we couldn't have any idea about shifting of reservation to another Hotel.
Hotel Albarad is an average hotel. Restaurant is closed. First they had gave us a room on ground floor which my wife didn't like. So she asked the manager to change the room and he agreed. Room on First floor seems to be OK. Staff is helping "a main positive point".
Needs to improve a bit on furnitures and restaurant facility. Overall experience is average.

Bad choice of hotel-Stinking toilet smell in the room, torn bedsheets, rodents, dirty windows and windows panes, smelly bedsheets, horrible wiring and plug points, be careful before you stay! Take care

Three of us booked into Munnar Manson through cleartrip two bedrooms for a two night stay as we traveled south in Kerala.
If it was possible I would review this accommodation with a negative rating as the standard was so poor! Yes it's cheap, but it is really awful.
The room numbers were 201 & 202. I was checked into room 201 and once I opened the door the troubles started, the floor of the room was soaking wet and the owner explained it was recently cleaned but the water was coming through the mortar between the tiles. The room had a horrible smell of damp. The back wall beside the headboard was soaking wet and had mould covering it! The bathroom shower was missing the tap to turn it on and the owners excuse was 'but the shower only supplies cold water' even though the hot and cold taps worked and supplied running water. The roof of the bathroom was covered in mould and this continued down the wall and around the mirror light.
I then sat on the bed and the sheets were also damp due to the condition of the room, there was no way you could sleep on this bed. I then thought I should check the bed for bed bugs and I was happy to find on inspection that it didn't look like it had any but what I did find on the underneath of the mattress was mould and blood stains! And all the owner had done was turn it over!
Then I opened the curtains and found more dirt and mould around the bars of the windows!
I have uploaded some photos of the room to show how terrible it was, anyway I checked out of the room that day and found a lovely place. I asked the owner to reimburse our payment of the room and he refused. We will be taking this up with clear trip.

Budget hotel with very basic facilities. They should do something to prevent smell in rooms due to rainy weather. Currently they don't had facility of restaurant/kitchen for snacks and breakfast at least. Service was average.
